Dental Restorations with Mini Dental Implants (MDIs)
Mini dental implants (MDIs) can make a life-changing difference for patients with dentures or missing teeth. While traditional implants require invasive surgery, multiple office visits, sutures, and months of healing, MDIs represent a quicker, more convenient alternative at roughly half the cost. Since becoming available eight years ago, MDIs have had a 98 percent success rate in stabilizing dentures, aiding in full-mouth restorations, and replacing missing teeth. After having your MDIs placed, you can immediately continue to enjoy your favorite foods, and smile, laugh, and talk with confidence. Dr. Herschfeld performs comprehensive placement of MDIs and is one of a select number of dentists to offer this remarkable procedure.
The MDI Process — Combining Comfort and Convenience
The placement of MDIs requires one or two office visits, depending on the type of restoration needed. During your first visit, Dr. Herschfeld may take impressions of your mouth. In that case of permanent crowns or bridges, skilled technicians, over the next month, will craft your crown or bridge from this impression for a customized fit. On the second visit, Dr. Herschfeld will place your MDIs in about one hour under mild local anesthesia. In the case where stablizing an ill-fitting denture is the intended goal, the procedure is performed in a single office visit in about an hour and is relatively straightforward. Since this procedure is minimally invasive, it requires no sutures and involves a short healing period.
